Montessori at Home (5) : Shape Activities ♥ 在家蒙特梭利 (5) : 认识形状

After Red Week and before proceed for next color, mummy thinking on giving few basic introduction activities about SHAPE~ 
在让孩子接触了红色之后,接下来先来看看孩子对形状的认识程度。先用几个简单的活动来让晨开始认识形状。


Day 1:

ღ Mini Shape Stick ღ 形状小叉子


Preparation / 准备工作 : 

Material / 材料用具 :
Shapes Stick 各式形状叉子 [i prepared Square, Round, Triangle & Star, which is her favorite shape]
Recycle Polystyrene Block 宝丽珑 [i get the polystyrene block from the courier package that i received]


What we explored today/ 我们今天探索了什么 :
Fine motor skills 精细动作技能 
Shape 形状认识
i prepared mini shape in different colors
我准备了四种颜色的迷你形状

Attached toothpick on the back of the shape
贴上牙签

Divided the polystyrene into 4, and mark with different shape
把宝丽珑分成四个,然后各自画上不同形状

And i do prepare some basic shapes flash card for her also,

I printed out on A4 paper and paste on recycle cardboard
我打印出后贴在纸皮上


Day 2:

ღ Stencil Play ღ 模板画


Material / 材料用具 :

Shape Stencil Cards 各式形状模板 [i just cut out the shape on recycle cardboard]
Paper/Drawing Paper 画纸
Color Pencil 彩色笔 [or any coloring material which is suitable, i let Chen using marker pen to draw on whiteboard as well]

Fine motor skills 精细动作技能 
Shape 形状认识

Day 5:

ღ Shape Clips ღ 形状夹子


Material / 材料用具 :

Wooden Clips with label with shape sticker 贴上形状贴纸的小木夹子

Felt in different shape 不同形状的不织布




How to play?
Just let your toddlers to match the felt with wooden clip which already labelled with the same shape. No photo taken during the process, due to Chen is still not really good in operating wooden clips, Mummy was busy to assist Chen to open up the clip~ Anyway, she still willing to match it with mummy.
这个游戏很简单,就是把某个形状的不织布配上相对形状的夹子即可~由于晨还不太善于运用夹子,所以整个游戏在妈妈的协助下完成~所以,就没有游戏照片啦~

后记:
以上众多游戏当中,晨最喜欢摸版画游戏。整套模板已经被她放在小画板旁,每天都至少画上一次。这个游戏教具是我花最少时间+零花费下准备的~从开始的她不太能勾画出形状,到现在已经逐渐掌握技巧慢慢看的出形状,慢慢的在进步中~我没想过这个模板画会成为她的心头爱,有时候很简单的东西反而能让她们自行慢慢去研究怎么玩,怎么弄,从中思考;就像我们小时候一样,路边的小石子就能玩好久了,不是吗? :)
Chen favorite's games from this series is : Stencil Play which i no need to spend $ and just spent few minutes to complete it. She kept it beside her drawing whiteboard and will play with it everyday. This really surprised me! As i never expected she gonna to like it, as she actually can't do well during her first time playing with this stencil board. Anyway, she is doing better and better now. Sometimes, what can bring real fun to us is really something simple and cheap!

DIY Matching Card [Red Theme] ♥ 自制配对卡[认识红色]

This is what we prepared for one of the session under Red Week~ Simple and easy as usual, as we will provide the printable material to you!

接下来会简单的描述红色主题配对卡的制作大纲,放心,会如以往我们介绍般简单,因为我们提供了可让你自行打印的档案给你哦~

material & tools :

♪ picture of items in red 
♪ penknife , scissor
♪ glue or double sided tape
♪ cardboard which you can take from recycle cartoon box

材料/工具 :
红色物品的图案
刀片,剪刀
胶水或双面胶纸
硬纸皮[可以取自不要的旧盒子]


steps :
Print out the picture.     将图案打印出
Paste it on the recycle cardboard.     将图案贴在硬纸皮上
Cut out into individual card.     将图案分割成为独立卡片
Done.     完成

How to play with it:
1. Show it to your toddlers one by one, and asking, "What is this?" , this is to exposure them with more items in red. 将图片逐个给孩子看,并让他们告诉你那是什么。
2. Pairing Games, let them to put same items together. 配对游戏,让他们自行将同样物品配对。
3. Or, as below :  或者,如下:

Or, make it as Memory Games~
也可以用来做记忆对游戏~

The rules are the same as a typical matching or memory game. Children take turns turning over two cards at a time until they find a match. They then get to keep those cards.
玩法和一般记忆游戏一样,孩子每次可以打开2张卡片,直到两张卡片相同时就可以拿起,重复直至卡片被拿完。这个就比较适合大一点的孩子,这时可以让他们了解“游戏规则”。

This is another easy DIY games which most of the children will like it, hope your toddlers will enjoy the games!

Montessori at Home (4) : Red Week Part Two ♥ 在家蒙特梭利 (4) : 认识红色(二)

Day 3:

ღ Red Dough Dots on Butterfly ღ 红色的蝴蝶翅膀


Preparation / 准备工作 : 

Material / 材料用具 :
Red Play Dough 红色粘土

Butterfly Guiding Material 印有蝴蝶的教材纸

What we explored today/ 我们今天探索了什么 :
Fine motor skills 精细动作技能 
Red 还是红色
rolling play dough 搓揉粘土

Play Dough Recipe:

Instructions
1. Mix together all the ingredients, except the food coloring, in a medium saucepan.
2. Cook over low/medium heat, stirring. Once it begins to thicken, add the food coloring.
3. Continue stirring until the mixture is much thicker and begins to gather around the spoon.
4. Once the dough is not wet, remove and put onto wax paper or a plate to cool.
5. After cooling (30 minutes) knead playdough for a few seconds.

Mummy guide to roll up the play dough into ball shape, but anyway, she still not able to do it well. Maybe need to play few more times then can only master the skill.
在妈妈的帮助下将粘土搓揉成球形。

After taking out the butterfly guiding material, i told Chen, please put the pink ball onto the small circles. And surprisingly, she can understand the instruction and trying to put on the ball by her own.
拿出教材纸后,我对晨说,请把粉红色的球放在小圆圈上,然后她就开始放了~我本来还想示范,没想到她竟然能明白我的指令。 

Task Completed, some are filled by mum ya! 任务完成,有些是妈妈置入的。

Day 4:

ღ Red Finger Paint ღ 红色指印游戏

today we got more members, so i added in blue and yellow to make it enjoyable.
今天除了红色[其实是粉红啦~]还加入了蓝色和黄色,因为今天的小朋友比较多

Hu~ Finally we finished our 5 Days activities, it is not continuous because sometimes we do have other activities. Anyway, for next, we are going to have... Hmmm! You will know it soon! :)

Montessori at Home (3) : Red Week Part One ♥ 在家蒙特梭利 (3) : 认识红色(一)

Well, after having few trials on Montessori at home with Chen(still "hutang" few activities which we done before, will update later), mummy really feel that we should keep continue! Coz she do enjoy a lot! Whenever she heard mummy said, come, let's have a game! Then, Chen will started to mumble on " Games! Games! I wanna play games! " And this, encouraged mummy to go on, and try to create more fun time together with her. And this going to be our lifetime memorial.

Ok, let's come back to our topic of the week : RED! Yes, mummy would like to try "home school" for Chen, and starting with 1 activity per day. Since Chen is just around 2 years old, so the most important thing is still having fun, so i just try to introduce something to her in mini games method.

之前尝试了一些在家蒙特梭利的活动,晨很喜欢,现在只要问晨,要玩游戏吗?她就会很开心的不停说,游戏,游戏,我要游戏!不然就是有时看到一些活动道具时很兴奋的拿来给我,然后又是不停说,游戏游戏~这个是表示她真的很喜欢这些游戏,不是吗?^^因为这样,妈妈更有动力不停参考资料,然后继续游戏!这个星期,我尝试了主题式的活动,主题为红色!是啦,就尝试通过不同小活动让她认识红色,以下就是我们的尝试~

Day 1:

ღ Red Ice Cube ღ 红色冰块

Preparation / 准备工作 : 

Material / 材料用具 :
Ice cube in different shape and use food coloring to make it red 红色冰块[可以用可食用色素来染色]

What we explored today/ 我们今天探索了什么 :
Sensory Play 五感活动
Hot & Cold 冷、热
Ice melting in hot water 冰块溶于热水
Shape 形状
Red 红色

Suitable for baby around 18M or above.
适合一岁半或以上的小朋友。

Can't wait to start her exploration.

Mummy prepare some hot water(well, warm water actually) for hot & cold exploration.

Add in peg for Chen to try, but anymore she still not able to handle this well.
加入衣夹,晨还未能自行使用,妈妈在旁示范。

Let your baby to explore by their own, mummy only do minor explanation to lead them. I'm preparing her meal beside her during her playtime.

Color Paper(Red, of course) 红色彩色纸[任何你喜欢的材质]
Glue 浆糊

tearing paper 撕纸张
gluing 运用浆糊

♪ tearing paper does help on the developing of the muscles in toddler's hands and fingers.
透過撕纸的過程,能幫助孩子練習食指與拇指如何正確的使力,是很好的精細動作練習。

ღ Water Pouring ღ 倒水练习

Introduction :
The purpose and aim of Practical Life is to help the child gain control in the coordination of his movement, and help the child to gain independence and adapt to his society. It is therefore important to “Teach teaching, not correcting” (Montessori) in order to allow the child to be a fully functional member in his own society. Practical Life Exercises also aid the growth and development of the child’s intellect and concentration and will in turn also help the child develop an orderly way of thinking.

This activity was one of the easiest activities I ever prepared.
非常简单的教具
Chen was super excited when she saw the "red water" inside the tray, without any instruction/explanation, she started the activity by her own. 
识途老马再加上十分诱惑的“玩水”活动,不必任何指示,她已径自开始.



The story behind the scene : mummy let her to pour in the water into the bottle without funnel, then you can see the water on the table and floor also. After this, add in funnel, then without any leakage.
先让她直接尝试将水倒入瓶子内,结果是,水湿了桌子还有地板。接下来,加入漏斗,那么孩子就明白了“器具”的用途了。
